Slow driving to the port, lots of traffic. We left the car at the airport and had to wait for a bit on the bus to take us to the ship: lots of white hair, wheel chairs and walkers (not the fast kind). Boarding the ship didn’t take long. I was overwhelmed with the these sights: missed belt loops, waist bands pulled up the armpits, black socks that match so nicely with khaki colored shorts and sneakers, blue hair (no way is there going to be enough die on the boat to keep it that color).
The ship is very nice. Not large, just nicely laid out and easy to get around. Our cabin is very nice – has a large king bed, sitting area that is rather spacious and a very nice sized balcony that actually has room to sit or lay around on.
We wandered for the first few hours just getting the lay of the land, then headed back to the room to unpack and get ready for dinner. The lifeboat drill was drop dead hysterical. No one was on time, everyone spoke over what was being said by our “drill sergeant” who was very sweet and trying very hard to put us all in order. Folks were still dragging in when the whistle blew for us to go back to our cabins. Rumor is that if you didn’t “make it” for the drill that you had to do it over at a later date. This caused much upheaval and folks were headed in all directions trying to get their number on this guys chart….one of those “had to be there” moments!
Dinner was good. Sat at a table for eight and had a chatty Kathy beside me! He was very nice and held up both sides of our conversation quite well: this is their 50 something-ish cruise! After dinner we walked three miles around the ship (many times). There is a nice walking path for us elder folk to meander along and get a bit of air.
Today is a beach day at Half Moon Cay. We plan on spending the late morning and early afternoon on the beach and relaxing. Should be fun! Just back...wrote the other stuff earlier. Great time at the beach...beautiful sand..cold water and nice drinks. Spent the morning there and early afternoon. Off to Turks and Caicos this afternoon. A day of snorkeling tomorrow then no firm plans. Will write more later! Send emails!
