Friday 6th October
Today we start our long journey up the coast on CA 1 the scenery was lovely and we stopped off at a place called Rocky point to view the cliffs and water, view point was another place where we watched seals on the beach. There were loads of cyclist doing this route which really scared me as there wasn’t much room between the cars road and cliff edge, but it made ana wish he had his bike (note from ana…mention possible bike trip along pacific coast to al and nige J ). We also looked at a place in Big Sur, small town with loads of trees and log cabins, we did enquire about staying but seemed too expensive. L Ragged Point, posh and cool views, stopped for lunch.
We started to worry at this point as every other place we asked to stay was fully booked and we had been on the road for 7 hours. We finally reach a motel which was owned by an Indian family, turned out his daughter lives in leicester and his son had gone to leeds university so he new of tamworth, how weirds that! Room was good very large with fridge for ana s beer. Asked guy where to go as town seemed pretty dodge, sent us to an English brewery/bar so settled down to a couple of beers and ended up talking to a nice American couple, who we arrange to meet in san fran, and towards the end of the night a drunk ex German army man, Talked to ana, sharing his very important views and memories of all the countries he had been to.
