My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I love trying to capture that perfect shot in camera, and not back at the desk at home. I'm Melbourne-based, but I grew up across 4 continents and relish any chance to hop on a plane to discover some where new.

I have never studied photography formally, instead learning as I go by trial and error - absorbing advice from all different sources. In the past 12 months, I've decided that I would like to pursue photography as more than a weekend hobby and this opportunity would be an amazing breakthrough for me. I adore taking portraits, focusing on the eyes. I have yet to visit Oman or its neighbours and it would be the trip of a lifetime, not just for the photography but also from a cultural perspective. I have just returned from a trip to Japan (even though my photos are from Melbourne) and my highlight was meeting the gracious Japanese and experiencing a very small taste bite of their culture - made me hungry for more!

So I'm Amanda Summons, an almost grown-up girl who loves taking her camera around everywhere, whether it is to the other side of the world or just in her own backyard. I would love the opportunity to start allowing my photography to take me places now :)
