Jetlag in Luzern

SWITZERLAND | Friday, 4 September 2009 | Views [707] | Comments [3]

Had an uneventful flight until we landed in Zurich and we fishtailed down the runway!  finally worked out the ticket system and three minutes before departure, our train was cancelled.  Managed to get a train HB only to miss the first connection to Luzern. Not to forget the silver lining (there always is, sometimes you just have to look a little harder) most beautiful boy sat across from us for the trip, even Granny was couldn't take her eyes off him!!

Paul the Astoria lived up to our expectations and was an absolute perfect place to get over our jetlag.

Weather is crappy, overcast and raining, no Mount Pilatis for us, boo hoo, going to go up the lake on a ferry tomorrow instead and visit the cheese factory.

All really tired, but Luzern is gorgeous.

We thought the flight was uneventful, but after watching CNN this morning we've changed our minds.....the flashing lights we saw as we flew way to low over Afganistan turned out to be not so innocent, and was actually a NATO strike against the Taliban. Couldn't beleive how low they took us over Pakistan and Afganistan.......

Got up early this morning after sleeping 12 hours....to the most delicious breakfast in the most decadent chandeliered room ever!

Things went a lot more smoothly today, in the right place at the right time so to speak, caught everything.

Caught the ferry on the lake to the Glass factory, an OHS nightmare. Guys pouring molten glass in their sandals and boardies, all with fag hanging out of their mouths...very cringe worthy!!

Caught the train to Engleberg, gorgeous gorgeous little skiing village. So quaint at the foot of Mount Titlis. Went to the cheese factory in the monastery there, was freezing as we stood in our shorts, everyone looking at us like we were crazy people....2 degrees on the mountain, first snow, which was visible when the clouds shifted.

Addicted to the bread here, found our favourite shop, not so addicted to the smoking that goes on, seems kind of wrong they can still smoke inside, nearly everyone does. Swiss so orderly and manicured, everything is so neat and tidy and clean which pleases me so!!

Catching train to Interlaken tomorrow......

A bit of fish tailing gets the heart pumping!

Hope the weather clears enough to enjoy the alpine region. The cable car rides are enjoyable enough in themselves, even if you can't see down the valley.

Are those pricey light weight jackets coming in handy yet and where's the happy snaps?

Do you have two blogs going. Others here only got link to Travelblog.org which none of us (have'nt asked Scott yet!) can figure out how to use. Not sure if you want me to send this link on?

ciao aus vederseine

Sharon, Sharon !

How goes it ? Hope you're having a wonderful time ! Are you relaxed from your French time ? Having been looking at all your fotos with green envy.
How long will you be in London when you are coming back ? Is there any chance you could do me a favour ?

Its buying me a Hi Fi thing I can't get here. I'm desperate. It would mean visiting a London Hifi shop. http://www.walrus.co.uk/main/walmap.htm, near Marble Arch.

If I sent you ₤495 Pounds to your bank account do you think you'd have time ? If not, no matter. cheers. douglas.brasier@dadhc.nsw.gov.au
