This is 'Katrina', a female Sykes Monkey at the Gede Ruins in Malindi, Kenya. Malindi is a coastal town and used to be my Grandpa's favourite spot when he lived there in 1953-1958. This shot was taken while Katrina was patiently waiting for a banana from our tour guide and a few seconds before she leapt onto my back at his prompt.

Our trip to Africa stemmed from my mum wanting to revisit where she was born 58 years ago. This picture was taken in the Ol Kinyei Conservancy near the Porini Mara Camp; both places my grandparents would have visited in 1953. We found this female Cheetah 'Nabiki' dozing under a tree. Nabiki means 'long life' in Swahili, which was ironic as she was also known to be a 'bad mother' - having 2 sets of cubs both of which sadly died. She was our first Cheetah sighting of the trip and we hung around long enough to catch a yawn - giving me this shot.

On our first day in Kenya, my family and I visited a Maasai village within the Porini Amboseli Conservancy. The tribe leader was explaining that they make their huts out of cow dung, sticks, mud and grass, when I turned and saw this brilliant shot. A little Maasai girl was peering out of her hut and looking straight at me.
