Practice makes perfect. This image was taken at Aschiana, a school run by a local Afghans to teach street children to read and write while also learning trades like carpentry and sewing.

Most children especially girls were not allowed to attend school because of war and conflict in Afghanistan. That has now changed in areas of the country. The teenage girl in this image is catching up in her studies at a girl’s school run by a local organization Afghans4Tomorrow.

Baking bread in Kabul is labor-intensive as everything is done by hand. Each person has his role from weighing, kneading and shaping. The dough is then placed in a tandoor, an underground clay oven for a few minutes. And yes it tastes delicious.
