Ace and I wake up early every morning. At first we were waking up at 2 or 3am, but today we slept in until 6! I think we're getting adjusted to the time change now. We went for an early walk through Ubud, past the morning market, past the water temple, over a bridge and around another temple to get to some open space for a 5 mile hike in a green valley.
We're pretty lucky in having a room overlooking a small rice field but most of Ubud is crowded, noisy and full of tourists. Ubud must be popular because it is a great place for learning about the culture and people of Bali. Our first night here saw a traditional Balinese dance called the Barong at Padang Tegal Kaja. We're also enjoying new foods and eating lots of Indonesian Fare as well as traditional Balinese cusine. Thankfully we can work the calories off on daily walks, swimming, and lots of yoga. Ace is at a yoga class right now and I'm headed for a swim after I upload this. Will write more later!
