A few hundred yards from the station is the beach where you will literally see sparks fly! It was very interesting to see how the corn vendor uses the gentle sea breeze to create these spectacular sparks show while grilling the corn. Little did I know that the spark show was actually used as a marketing tool. The bigger and more spectacular the sparks, the more the hungry beach goers from miles away get attracted to the stall like a worker bee to its queen!

Then there was this fledgling fruit vendor who set his shop next to this other big railway stall. Most passengers chose the bigger and fancier shop for their snacking needs yet this old yet enthusiastic fruit vendor never lost any hope trying to attract customers. Although almost nobody in that one hour bought anything from him, I never saw him accept defeat to this big shop behind him. I later bought a dozen of his bananas.

What you are seeing are not passengers waiting at the station after a schedule cancellation or delay, some of them merely come to the railway station just to watch some telly! The train schedule board is accompanied by many local TV channel sponsored TV that is meant to entertain waiting passengers. Seem like the idea has worked only too well.
