He set up his ranch, Curucucu and had many adventures before his was forced to flee to the Caribbean coast where he still lives in a small shack by the sea. He was the inspiration of Louis de Bernières' 'The War of Don Emmanuel's Nether Parts'. Locally know as simply 'El Gringo', Ben is a well know figure in the community.
