My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Bangladesh | Saturday, October 15, 2011 | 5 photos

Abdul Quayyum, working with IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Bangladesh country office as the communications officer. Recently I have visited Sundarban, the largest Mangrove Forest in the world for an official visit. That gave me the chance to take some photos of this UNESCO World Heritage site. Needless to say, these photos hardly do any justice to the real beauty of this beautiful forest. I tried with my limited resources to capture every beauty starting from the 1st day till the day I got back.

Sundarban has extremely rich diversity of aquatic and terrestrial flora and fauna. Sundarban's highly productive ecosystem acts as a natural fish nursery. Sundarban Mangrove reduces the fury of cyclonic storm and prevents erosion due to tidal action. Millions of people depend on Sundarban Ecosystem for their livelihood and sustenance through fishing, collection of honey and fuelwood/timber.

Being a communication specialist, I need to travel a lot and often need to take photos, as one of the important tools. But till now I have no academic background in photography. So when I came across this site, I didn't hesitate at all to sign up. I really wish, I could get this opportunity to have a hands on experience in travel photography. I can implement the knowledge in my professional life if I am given this opportunity. Thanks.
