The Long & Winding Road

The Airports are Closed!

THAILAND | Sunday, 30 November 2008 | Views [321]

Today Sarah and CJ left for Bangkok to try and catch their flight.  Their flight was in limbo because anti-government protesters had taken over both airports in Bangkok which caused the government to call for a state of emergency.  A lot of people were already stranded in Bangkok and they were going to join the masses trying to get out.  They needed to get back to Korea so they couldn't just ride it out and stay in Thailand.  My day was spent hanging out with Wiebke swimming in the ocean and relaxing.  I had decided that I was going to wait to do my diving course with Matt because the visibility of the water was horrible so I didn't feel like it was worth it.  I also decided I was going to head up to Bangkok to wait for Matt to show up on the 5th.  Everyone was leaving the next day anyway and I had been on Koh Tao for 6 nights already.  Wiebke and Eva were heading to Koh Phangan, Sarah and CJ were gone, so Stuart and I decided to cruise to Bangkok to hang out with all the stranded tourists!  We had one more Koh Tao pub crawl and ended up having a blast as usual.
