Dalmatia

CROATIA | Saturday, 17 May 2008 | Views [492]

Left on 17 May  Marcelles birthday from Split, gifts to open, flowers for our cabin and getting to know or crew and fellow sailors. We loved the city SPLIT, UNESCO protected and you can see why, its just so old and precious, especially the Diocletian palace .

Boarded the Labrador around midday and set off on our 7 day cruise around the Dalmatian coast and islands. Top spots for us were Korcula and Dubrovnik(we climbed and walked the walls) and Maekerska (?) local wedding was a hoot literally!

Some rough weather in spots, some did poorly but recovered stoicly. Gin and tonic great remedy. Baileys and chocolates didn,t go astray either! Keyboard is fun!

More new soon or we,l miss the boat

24th May back to dry land at Split where we have all set off in our different directions. Val and Cheryl had an enjoyable day settling into apartment, visiting the green market for supplies and having a long walk around the bay to Marina and beach. We had a great evening meal by the bay after a warm balmy day in this city with its mountainous backdrop. Today we will finish our walking tour of the palace and board the ferry back to Italy at 7pm. We spent our last Kuna (HRK)and goodbye to the lights of Split harbour.
