Postcards The incredible adventures of Madame Putrid and Rotten

Kathmandu, Nepal

We descended into Kathmandu at 9.30am after circling the sky for 3 hours, anticipating whether or not the weather would clear enough to be able to land. The ice capped mountain cut through the clouds like the serrated edge of a knife. We found a room on ‘freak street’, just outside of Thamel. By 4pm the air was crisp enough for scarf, beanie, gloves and layers. We joined the street bustle; women draped in ponchos, brass pots clanking, the constant brrrum of motorcycles purring through the town. We wove our way past the carved temples, beyond the market alleyways, through the gentle crowds, in darkness (due to power cuts). Lengthy human shadows shot into the distance, cast by they lights of passing motorcycles. Café and restaurant vendors lined their windows and interiors with candles. We found a corner in a café and drank whiskey and ate chocolate pudding. Mmmmm. In the day time we have been meeting with a trekking company and organizing our gear hire etc. We depart on the 21st for a 2 day rafting, 8 day trekking trip near the Tibetan border. Then on the 4 December we will be trekking the Annapurna region to Poon Hill. Not sure if I will put myself through trying to use the internet here again… quite slow and the keyboard keeps loosing letters as I type. We’ll see how patient I am in the future. Xxx oooo ‘nousk

p.s. this computer can't handle photos, so can't upload any just yet.
