My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

The basics: my name is Robert. I’m 30. Born and raised in Toronto but now live in Auckland. I am happily married. I work as a motion graphics designer. I love a good laugh and enjoy learning.
I love photography but that’s a given, and I’m sure it’s not the first time the judges will read that line. I enjoy capturing a unique perspective on something but since I’m not too good at drawing and not patient enough for paint to dry, photography is the medium that works best for me.
I’m not sure how to describe it other than saying it just feels right. I enjoy exploring, be it somewhere new or the familiar of day to day life. I’m compelled by the challenge of finding an interesting story and trying to translate it into a successful photo. I feel most comfortable with photography, in my gut I feel this is what I should be doing with my life. I have a lot to learn and I see this scholarship as an amazing opportunity to do so and a great life experience beyond photography. My end goal is to capture a great photo and share it. It goes against my Canadian modesty to say it, but I want my photos to be seen. I want them to have an effect on the viewer, to help expand their view of the world.
