Now you want to be immersed in the Arequipa culture? just go to the local market! A good place to sample some of the local food and drink. You will always know where to buy the best empanadas around when you spot 20 hungry Peruvians standing around a particular food stall . Speaking of food ,they say Arequipa is the place to try Cuy,otherwise known as guinea pig. Carlos gave directions to a Picanteria known in the area for preparing this unusual dish. Roccoto Relleno, Cuy Chacdado and Chicha de Jora were some of the dishes we tried. The guinea pig was deep fried and tasted a lot like chicken.Cookie and Dave were having a great time  too! The four of us having this traditional meal at a  Picanteria with a fantastic view of El Misti was an experience that will stay with us for years to come.
