My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Sri Lanka | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos
I am a recent graduate of a Masters degree in International Relations and Political Science. However, the moment I finished my degree I have decided I want to go down the creative route and combine my interest in international issues, cultures, and world affairs with my creative side. The experience gained from traveling extensively to each and every continent, experiencing the many diverse cultures of the world has captivated my interest in the similarities and schisms between cultures, architecture and lifestyle. The best way to combine both my interests, I believe, is to become a travel photographer to capture the millieux of different cultures. Therefore the Travel Photography Scholarship would be a huge step towards my dream job. The photos I have chosen are from my post-graduation trip to Sri Lanka. I wanted to demonstrate the different means of transportation in Sri Lanka. It was very interesting to see the different methods that were both very traditional but also modern. I loved the combination of both in the every day life of Sri Lankan men. Also that the men would wear their traditional Sarong whilst driving a motorbike demonstrated the merging of the traditional with the Western norms.
