This is my first journal, how exciting! I've been traveling a bit this year, now I'm home and that's in Argentina and talking about my country would take me hours and that's a different story. I studied abroad last year, and with my good friend Joy we spent six months in the south of Spain: in Sevilla!!
To be honest, I wasn't very excited when in my school they told me there was no other option, it was Sevilla or staying another year home. Well, that wasn't going to happen, I accepted, though the idea of watching movies in spanish or not being able to practise a foreign language wasn't very attractive. Let me tell you that prejudice is the worst thing that could happen to anybody and in this case, to any traveler.
What I found in Sevilla was a second home. Two days after our arrival, we already had an appartament, french roomates and plenty of new friendships. Unbelievable, these two girls from a little town in Argentina who had been living in a bubble, were now discovering a new world.
Two months later we were known as "The Argentinians", we mingled perfectly, and also we met a cool group of americans so my english problem was solved; we knew everything about the place, we started talking with an andalusian accent that made our friends laugh, and well, we started to gain weight, a signal of total happiness or a signal that the spanish food is abundant and so tasteful, reminded me of my grandma's homemade meals...
After six months, a very cheap roadtrip through Europe (thanks Ryanair and hostelworld.com), 10 kg gained and 200 new friends in facebook, we weren't ready to go home. But those are the rules, and well, there was a gym waiting for me here...
So we came back, but this was just only the beggining! I've discovered so many things about myself, I've learned and I've grown. I'm not a different person, I'm not gonna say that, but now I know I'm capable of being on my own, of making new friends, meeting people from different backgrounds, I've seen a world of possibilities! and I'm ready for the next adventure...can't wait!!
