My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

My name is Zachary Hachey. Currently a Journalism student at St. Thomas University. I'm not in journalism for television or news papers, I'm in it for my obsession of photography, culture and my desire to one day travel the world and tell the stories of so many different cultures through my photos. I grew up obsessing over National Geographic, dreaming to one day experience their work. The worst part was by the time I finished high school, my camera and I still didn't have the chance to leave my pine tree filled province. So I booked a flight to Cuba. When I got there I was so amazed by everything, I couldn't even lift up my jaw for a second to snap a photo. There are so many mental images stuck in my head from that trip that I only wish I could of captured. The first thing I saw when I stepped into Havana was a gorgeous fat lady sitting in a wicker rocking chair in an ally way. She was so happy smoking a massive Cuban cigar and laughing out loud to herself. This one picture could of told the world that no matter how horrible the lives of different cultures are set up, they always find a way to be happy. I want to experience this field more than anything. This is my dream.
