I am a 40 something year old geologist who recently relocated back home to UK after living for 9 years in the mountains of Alberta and British Columbia. I most recently worked a month on/month off rotation in West Africa but I quit work in December 2013 and spent 2014 travelling and relocating while deciding what I really wanted to do with my life. After much soul searching I settled on going back to university to study Oceanography and hope that it'll lead on to work exploring, mapping and conserving the worlds oceans and their resources.
I'm not big on planning and tend to book my adventures last minute hence the title of the journal. I travel to experience different cultures, to spend time in wild and naturally beautiful areas, to view wildlife in a natural habitat and in some cases to challenge myself by puting myself outside my comfort zone physically and mentally.
At the request of some friends I plan to document my travels and hope that my writing and photos will inspire others to get out there. I also hope to encourage more solo women to travel and experience this amazing world.
