Uncover Journey

It was amazing journey I ever had. Since I live in a big city of Surabaya but my neighborhood so less of diversity. Knowing a world outside is forbidden for me since I am a young girl and girls suppose to be at home. But I didn’t believe in it. Then the journey had begun, when friend of mine was offering me a diving trip to Kangean Island. Next thing I remembered, my diving gear was on the way of adventure.

Location
Kangean Island is archipelago in eastern Madura Island, Sumenep District, East Java. There are 60 islands and the main islands are Kangean Island, Paliat Island and Sapanjang Island.

Transportation
Kangean Island can be reach from capital city of East Java, Surabaya. By driving for 4-5 hours, we can reach the Sumenep Island and about 1 hour to reach main harbor of Sumenep, Kaliangat Harbor. From Kalianget Harbor, we can continue our trip to Kangean Island by ferry or speed boat. It takes 4 hours to Kangean Island by speed boat. While a Ferry operate by PT. Dharma Lautan can take for 10 hours to reach Kangean. The ferry is the mass transportation people of Kangean and it cheap.

Hotel
There is a local hotel in Kangean Island, Arjasa district. It’s about 1 hour from Kangean Harbor by public transportation call TAXI-open truck with canopy. For me, the great thing about this transportation is the driver played dangdut music so laud. The hotel is only old building with rooms and bath room. Bit haunted I think. So, it is suitable for anybody who is looking for real adventure nerves. It is quit cheap like Rp 60.000/ night.

Coral Reef
There, in the harbor of Kangean, your eyes will indulge by the clear water of ocean. The panorama of coconut trees marching along the coast line. Adding with the front in front island called Sitabok Island which is the location of coral reef conservation area.

The clear ocean water will seduce you to grab the diving gear and dive. By renting the local boat for one day, we can sail to Sitabok Island. Here, the Sitabok reef will be the main menu where you can satisfied your adventure with the under water view. The slope coral structure smoothly gradation from branching coral too massive and the sea fan.

Olbek Spring water
The location of Olbek spring water is in the eastern of the island. To reach the location, we can take taxi or by motor bike. First time I came to the location, I was amazed by the mangrove formation around the spring water. For me, the old mangrove trees and the spring water flows under, create a magic combination of nature harmony. It is such a peaceful place and playground at the same time.
