Tangkuban Perahu, Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. The name translates more or less to "upturned boat" in Sundanese, referring to the local tale of its creation. The story tells of "Dayang Sumbi", a gorgeous woman who lived in West Java. She was blessed with her young appearance by God. She left her son, who in the end turned out to fall in love with her. Both of them didn’t recognixe each other. Until Dayang Sumbi realize and try to prevent her marriage with her own son by asking him to build a dam on the river Citarum and to build a large boat to cross the river, both before the sunrise. Sangkuriang got helps from other magic and mythical creature but he couldn’t finish the task. Then he kicked the unfinished boat. It caused a severe flooding and the creation of Tangkuban Perahu from the hull of the boat.
