Kicking myself all the way

Most surreal moments (updated in Nicaragua)

USA | Monday, 27 April 2015 | Views [151]

1. Watching a pod (?) of dolphins swim beside the La Paz to Mazatlan ferry to the accomplyment of 'Welcome to the Jungle' on the ferry ' s Mexico - loud PA.

2. Miguel, of the 'bicycling-with-kids down through Baja and beyond'  (I have yet to add it here) sitting at the crowded ferry terminal waiting area looking very much like Che, slowly, and with intense concentration, honing a wicked 3 inch filleting knife on a whet stone under the eyes of about 4 (unconcerned) Police / security personnel.

3. Horse (cow or donkey with 2 boys) in a short bed pick up truck.

4. 20 school kids standing in a short bed pickup truck

5. Looking up from a boring blah ride by Pueblo to see a huge smoking volcano in the smogged - out distance

6. Having to pay a 'litter tax' at the border into Guatemala. Now that's just taking the piss! Have they seen the amount of litter the locals lob indiscriminately?7.

7. Driving behind a 'chicken bus' in Nicaragua and realising although I am directly behind it, and we are both on an arrow straight road, I can see its whole left side! It's alignment must have been about 15%.

8. NO security presence in South Honduras of all places!? Not even 1 shotgun before breakfast either.

9. The town of Antigua Guatemala - the rich of Guatamala get their own play-town. It's beautiful, a la Pompeii - complete with towering  volcanoes, but SO in-your-face out of place. Its no wonder I struggled to find the place as signpostimg was woefully dire. Maybe they are trying to make it out as a myth to their 99%?

I will keep this going as I am sure Mexico and Central America will!
