Catching a Moment - 'Are these your bags?'

AUSTRIA | Sunday, 24 March 2013 | Views [325] | Scholarship Entry

Stepping out of the Linz train station, I whisked off to find the bus to Prague. It's an inter-country bus; surely the bus station will be of decent size or structure.

How wrong was I! Lugging around 6 travel bags and navigating the nearby areas, there was still no sign of any bus stations. Carrying the heavy burden only made me regret buying the 2 dozen Mozart bottles from Salzburg; among many other souvenirs from our first Europe trip.

Though there were still 30 minutes, the thought of missing the 9:20am bus worried me. Missing this bus would mean another 8 hours wait and arriving Prague close to midnight. The thought of 2 Asian women steering round the interconnecting spiderweb alleys on food at night, did not bode well with me. 'I can't miss this bus!'

Surprisingly, my cry for help had work. Just then, I saw a pole standing humbly alone in a building corner. On top of it, stuck a metal plate. Eagerness swept my feet towards it and finally unloaded our heavy burden by the pole.

Still flabbergasted and doubtful about my finding, 'Is this the stop for bus to Prague?' I asked the first stranger who came up.

'Yes' he replied. Before relief had the chance to calm my anxiety, I was mesmerised by this beautiful stranger in front of me. Despite his casual outlook, his tall frame and blonde hair accentuated a charming yet approachable personality.

'Are these your bags?' he was in awe. Embarrassed, I eagerly explained half was my travel companion looking for nearby restroom.

Our conversion continued well into Prague and met up the following day. As I stood beside this stranger, the sunset view overlooking Charles Bridge became secondary.
