INSPIRATION
Of all the cities I visited in India, Jaipur struck me as the most "foreign." As someone who lives in New York City, seeing one of India's large cities and comparing it to my own hometown city was incredible. My video, "Jaipur: The Pink City," provides a brief history of the city's past and a vivid portrait of its present. The video was inspired by the sights and sounds that surrounded me while I was in Jaipur.
PLANNING
The video is holistic rather than linear. It provides images that match the short narrative and then unfolds to simply display everyday life in Jaipur.
CHALLENGES
The biggest challenge was equipment as I was filming using my handheld digital camera, set to video mode. Another challenge for me was filming people, as I felt self conscious.
AMBITION
I make travel a priority in my life. Many of my friends and family members are not able to travel. My videos provide informative, first-hand accounts of life in the places where I travel. In a way, my videos allow my friends and family to hop on board and take a trip of their own.
