My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Nepal | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos
My name is Daniel Noriega and I have been roaming the world most of my life. Originally from Mexico, I left my country nine years ago to discover Africa, made it to Australia where started working in community development, before moving to Philippines to volunteer for 2 years working with children. When I completed my assignment, all I wanted was to be cold and see mountains, as the Philippines were always hot and humid, and pretty flat. So for the last 8 months I visited the countries around the Himalayas and Tibet, including China, India and Nepal.
I think experiencing different cultures is the best way to learn about the world today. It allows me to understand how people in different places think and feel. It makes me realize that we all are human beings in the search for happiness. And that most people want everyone else to be happy too.
Travelling and photography are two of my biggest passions (the third being working in development). Travelling allows me to experience and learn. Photography allows me to share this with others and hopefully, inspiring people to travel. This scholarship would allow me to improve my skills and hopefully bring people closer together.
