Rod and Kim
Wombat and wife are Rod and Kim and we live on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland Australia. Rod is a Manager and Kim a speech and language Therapy Assistant. Rod is also a Scout leader with a Scout name of Wombat. We enjoy the great outdoors, go camping in our small tear drop camper, go kayaking on nearby lakes and water ways and occasionally go for a leisurely morning or afternoon bicycle ride along the coast. We are in our mid 50's, our family have grown up and live interstate.
Together we have travelled to Thailand each year, for the past 10 years, staying in the northern towns of Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and a few other smaller towns near these areas. A couple of years ago, realising that life was flying past at great speed, we started to develop a dream to spend 3 months in South East Asia, not sure at the time of how or when we could do this.
In 2016 we decided that 2017 would be that year, so we approached our employers for extended leave without pay , and so began planning. We are independent travellers and Kim researches all of our trip plans and we book everything ourselves on line, from air fares to boat and train trips and places to stay.
Our trip will commence in June 2017 and we will travel to Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and back to Thailand. The places, trips and photos that will be posted over the three months, will be good and worth the read. We will not only cover our adventures but share our experiences which will hopefully give you a laugh, possibly make you cry and wish you were there.
