Food is like our twins. It can be a friend when you feel a loneliness or sadness. For example is chocolate that can increase our happiness hormone.

I prefer Indonesian’s traditional food from Palembang, South Sumatera. Palembang was a trading central, they called it Sutera lane. Some of foreigner married with local people. That impact the diversity of faith, mixing race, culture and food.

The first well-known food from Palembang is Empek-empek. It made from Belida fish, flour and sago. It is like a meatball but more smooth, chewy and the centre is filled up with an egg. There are two kind of Empek-empek, first is the regular. They have so many shapes, like : dive ship, lenjer, missile and curly. After it boiled you can eat it directly or fried it. It served with brown vinegar sauce that made from vinegar, tamarind, green chilli, palm sugar and garlic. Do not forget to add cucumber slices and yellow noodle.

The second is Rice Flour's laksa. Eat with yellow sauce that made from coconut milk, mixture of spices and pieces of boiled chicken.

The third is Celimpungan, It is like a combination of big size Tekwan and Laksa sauce. The diameter maybe is around three centimeters.

The fourh is Sixth Hours Cake. We spend eight hours to bake it inside the oven. The colour is brown, the texture is almost smooth like Gellato ice cream but thicker. It taste really sweet like Arabic snacks. We use more than six eggs in the making process.

We start to make a conclusion. Palembang’s people must be like seafood. In all of the serving they have green chilli, means they really like spicy food. They also use noodle in every serving. As we know that noodle is from Chinese, so it is like the effect of mixing culture.

Originally Palembang’s origin people is stubborn and emotional. Then Chinese come, bring hard worker characters and best trading soul. Also Arabic and Indian people come with their tall body, also with the strong and big energy. It will result an unique descents.
