My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
USA | Thursday, July 4, 2013 | 5 photos
Photography is a tool to better understand and relate to the world around us. Many photographers feel that the camera operates as a wall between themselves and the world, however for me it acts more as a conduit. I use photography to convey my view of the world and in return to relate more to what surrounds me. My time as a photographer, studying and making pictures in the US and Europe, has introduced me to many people and experiences that I still hold dear. I started with photography in high school (however since I was little I was fascinated by the tool) and my passion has only grown in the time since. I studied photojournalism in college and continue to make pictures nearly everyday. Great images are those where everything in the frame comes together to tell a complete story, where no part is wasted and the shutter was pressed at that perfect moment. The best images, classic images, have that compositional perfection, but have something more, a clear connection and empathy with the subject, those are the images I want. My goal with photography is to convey truth about the people and experiences I encounter and to make others care to stop and look.
