The city feels you

You know what is the thing about cities you are first time in? You can get lost. In a world where you can know everything everywhere (thank you, Mister Internet), this feeling is a valuable one.
A couple of hours after our arriving in Riga we were pretty excited to go to bed, even if it was past 11 p.m. So, we took warm clothes (by the end of the August, the Riga's nights are cold enough, at least for us +5C is a reason to consider so).
Like butterflies who are flying to light, we crossed the Stone Bridge to the bright side.
No one of us went to Riga before. No one of us knew where to go. And no one of us didn't take a map or even a smartphone. We were just walking, over the bridge, paved streets and besides buildings, which look more majestic at night, we were walking with wide open eyes.
I never seen such a beautiful game of lights and forms at the illuminated House of the BlackHeads. The figures from the building were sooo real, I thought they will come down to us.
A special attention was captured by the people around us. The public was so variegated. There were characters from fashion blogs, from old good movies and even some from cosplay. Smiling, laughing, happy faces. Maybe because it was Friday night? Or maybe not....
We turned on a narrow street. We hadn't a certain destination for that night, We were just walking. Suddenly we started to hear a music. Russian one. We all knew Russian and it was quite weird to hear known words in a Balkan capital. We followed the sound. It brought us to a bar, without wall, with tables and chairs under the sky, with a small stage where a Russian band was performing. They sang as if it were their last performance: feelingly, sincere, with fire, dancing. We stopped just to breath and memorize the atmosphere, but after 5-7 minutes, we were dancing in the crowd. We were jumping, laughing, hugging, dancing, singing among Rigans as among our friends.
It was the best night of that summer.
Crossing back the bridge, I thank Riga for sensitivity as it felt our mood, felt our spirit, felt us and took us to the right place.
Sometimes (if not always), when you let be taken by the city, it take you to the right place in the right moment. And namely these moments best help to discover who you are and/or to decide who you want to be.
Get lost in unknow cities.
