Its unfortunate but I
only found out about this opportunity at 7pm, Sunday evening and nothing is
uploading to YOUTUBE properly that I edited specifically for World Nomad. The
documentary you will view on YOUTUBE is still a work in progress. After having
travelled the world I came back to Australia and saved up money and bought a
video camera and editing equipment. Originally I planned to do five-minute
stories on different peoples lives in the country. The first person I
interviewed was a Sudanese community leader. It was immediately apparent that
five minutes would not do justice to the Sudanese experience. With the help of
the community leader I made contact with my documentary subject Matter Machar,
whose trust I had to gain. What you are viewing in my YOUTUBE link is actual
footage from my documentary shot in Melbourne and Sudan, where Matter went in
2008 to see his mother for the first time in twenty years. Two years later the
project carries on. There have been many issues that I have come up against in
making this documentary, from the emotional nature of the subject matter, to
funding (lack there of) to balancing work commitments with what is my passion.
As a documentary maker I want to analyse, engage, educate and document the
world we currently live in, towards positive change. Check my website out
