Scolarship entry 2012 - Welcome to Christchurch

Australia | Friday, January 11, 2013 | flickr photos

I’m not sure how I would describe myself but my family always say if there was a crisis instead of helping I would be the one taking photos. I know I’m hooked because every time I take a shot I get a burst of adrenaline.
Photography has remained a hobby. I didn’t recognise until recently that I longed for it to be more. So I packed my camera, left my job and went to New Zealand where I travelled living in the back of a car for 3 ½ months. For me landscapes hold a soft spot, nature, her beauty and power will always fascinate me. The world changes every day and it’s only a tiny spec in infinite time that we will ever hope to capture, but it’s a personal spec and that’s what I love.
I got to meet some amazing people along the way, from all over the world. Some were photographers who encouraged me, others from places and cultures I’d one day like to visit. This is why I look forward mostly to the mentorship if I get this opportunity. Specifically I would love to learn more about portraiture on the road. I love how you can communicate feelings through photography, and my ultimate goal is for people to look at my work one day, whatever genre and say “Wow, I know exactly what you mean”.
