Time to go Walkabout

About wardhavens

I am The Quintessential Alaskan Guy...I have chosen to live life (for a while, at least) a bit on the rugged side. I live in a "dry" cabin, What am I passionate about? Hmmmm... Snow Kiting, Sea-kayaking, Boating, Hunting, Fishing, Rock Climbing, Backpacking… Being outdoors in general, really. Reading for knowledge or pleasure. Love. Passion. Physical intimacy. A good beer, (Corona, Alaskan Amber, Wild Blue) good coffee, Sushi/Sashimi, Alaskan seafood and Wild Game. Oh, and Thai... definitely Thai! Long road trips. overnight trips on the Tanana River or Prince William Sound. Spending time at my remote cabin, Yoga, Thai Chi / Martial arts. Thunderstorms, Rain on my tent, and the sound of melting ice bergs while I eat my freshly caught shrimp!. Anything that renews my sense of awe for the world we live. My primary job is that of a Firefighter/EMT. In summer, I can be out in the field for a week or more at a time, I’m a big game Guide, Fishing Guide and a professional hunter I’ve hunted around the world and it’s a passion of mine. Travel? I grew up wanting to travel the world. As an adult I have beach-bummed in Mexico, Hawaii and played in the canyons and caves of the Southwest, explored much of the coastline from Mexico to Washington, most of Prince William Sound in Alaska, and wandered many of the forests and deserts in between..... I spent 6 years in the small fishing village of Misawa Japan; Hitchhiked from Sapporo, on the island of Hokkaido down to Okinawa; spent time in Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, Wake Island and Guam, My favorite destination is Australia! I‘ve always preferred the path less traveled. Future plan backpacking/motor biking through Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, India, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Singapore then on to Australia where I have special ties! Most of my past travels have been solo and lo-budget. Now that I have the means, I want to break out and experience the rest of the world.................LIFE IS GOOD!!!!!
