Canoe Trip

It all began on 31 June with a gathering of 14 people on the Island of parts. Overnight organize the food that we would eat and load during the next 15 days, and also the clothes that we raised to be donated to the traditional community during the trip. We got to the paradise and desert island of Bananas. Unloading the luggage we had another surprise: everything was wet. Our lodge in a cave, made fire and Renato presented in the script of the trip. We made a circle and talked, each was given a new name, dined and slept inside the cave. From there it would be so cold bath, toilets rare, little comfort, but very challenging and learning. Almost always paddled endlessly until the doors of a community hidden in the mangroves or the arms of a river, in the woods or on top of a hill. The canoe trip requires one of the integral absolute detachment. The hours of rowing varied independently of weather conditions (sun, rain, cold or wind) or the human condition, sometimes felt hungry, some people got sick and tired took care of us all.

Over time communities were becoming increasingly distant and the presence of the forest, mangrove and mountains more exuberant. We have always been well received in the communities in which we are very simple people, but possessing a very rich culture, a tradition that should be preserved. Find fishermen, hunters, shellfishermen, artisans, fandangueiros, oyster collectors, teachers, healers and many others. The way of life is guided by mysticism caiçara related to use of mangrove land and sea.

However, there is a huge conflict you enter the laws governing the nature of the region. The main conflict was noted the application of the laws of nature conservation clash with subsistence activities of the communities.
