Undoubtedly, there are hundreds of thousands places to visit on our diverse planet Earth. For the Central Asian girl, a trip to Atlanta was the first flight abroad, first time to collide with another people, culture and totally different way of living.
As I was chosen as a fellow for Global UGRAD Eurasia and Central Asia program, my mentors had provided a comprehensive briefing on what to expect from my experience of living and travelling in the United States of America. Then, I saw The America.

Rocky mountains covered with snow (which I used to see in Kyrgyzstan on a daily basis) were replaced by a fascinating scenery of forests, hills and flats. Humid climate made the air extremely hard to inhale, rains never provided a relief. Diversity of people struck at the very second I entered the college campus. And the moment I saw the campus (which looked like Hogwarts) I fell in love with Georgia.

Georgia might not be on a top 10 places to visit in the US, however that is the state to get to know, understand and love the heart of American culture. I have spent 10 months in the US, travelled to San Francisco, Chicago, New York and Florida, but Atlanta was the only city I would visit again. As every city has its own zest, Atlanta appeals to wanderer with it complicated system of streets (considering that there are many streets, stations and avenues named Peachtree), rythmic tempo of life, breath of business life in the downtown and cheerful child laughter around Zoo Atlanta, Georgia Aquarium and the World of Coca-Cola. As an international student, I was happy to try Southern cuisine - mostly buscuits and the syrop were my favorites.

Altanta is a city of artists - Everyman, the annual conference of City Speaks held by the Living Walls, which make wonderful masterpieces of contemprorary art that change Atlanta's scenery. Atlanta is a city of students, workers, businessmen, housewives, sportsmen, HipHop stars, all of those people play their own role in building an image of the city, where a person can actually be happy!
