Discovering heritage in a bustling city

olvera street

USA | Monday, 25 May 2015 | Views [148] | Scholarship Entry

It was my third day of vacation in Los Angeles and having seen all major attractions of the city, this day was reserved for getting a look and feel of the daily life in the city. I started the day with a walk around the downtown area and thereafter moved towards the part where Olvera street is located. I googled the name and discovered that this street houses the heritage of LA.

Located amidst a bustling industrial area, Olvera street is like a rustic oasis. Small open air cafes and petite souvenir shops bring out the authentic Latin origin. The small bustling street is a great place to sit in any of the open sided cafes and watch the world go by or to wander in and out the various free museums depicting life in early LA. The Avila Adobe, the oldest house in LA located on the street is also worth a look. I was so glad to have discovered the street and it was an absolute delight spending the afternoon lazing around this place.
