Turkey
So many millennia of human occupation have shaped Turkey into a modern nation with an Islamic heart and an eye to the future. In this series of photographs I aimed to capture the way that east and west, old and new cohabitate in Turkey. In a world where Islam and the west are so divided Turkey serves as a reminder that we are not so different.
About me
I am a forty year old professional fire-fighter, amateur photographer and father to two teenage daughters. My ambition is to become a full time travel photographer in around two years time when my children have finished school.
My seventeen years as a firefighter have given me many qualities to make it as a travel photographer. Physical fitness, adaptability, problem solving, being ready to respond at any moment and maintaining an array of equipment are all attributes common to both occupations. I have had many years experience as an amateur and occasionally professional photographer specializing in the quite technical 360 panorama photography.
I believe that all humans are equal and connected to each other and my aim in photography is to help others see this and as such make a better more connected world for us all in the future. I believe that capturing beautiful images of the world’s cultures that show our differences and more importantly our similarities is an effective way to serve this goal. I am also an avid environmentalist and hope to show nature’s beauty and our destruction of nature to the world in order to create change in the way that we treat our planet.
