September–October 2006

Vancouver - Frankfurt - Prague - Krakow - Auschwitz - Budapest - Zagreb - Split - Ljubliana - Salzburg - Munich - Vancouver

Arrived in Frankfurt, Germany in the late evening. Got a hotel near the railway station. Bought a ticket for Prague the next morning.</p>

Czech Republic
From Frankfurt, I headed to Prague for a couple of days. What a beautiful city. Explored the typical tourist sites.

Prague > Brno

Brno > Ostrava

Got stuck in Ostrava for the day and evening (until just after midnight), so I took in some sights, and found a cool beer garden for dinner and drinks.

Poland
From Ostrava I headed to Krakow, Poland. Interesting city to wander around in. Stayed in a hostel.

Took a day trip to Auschwitz and Birkenau which was a moving experience.

Returned to Krakow for my second evening.

Hungary
On to Budapest, Hungary.

Went to the indoor/outdoor baths one day (City Park’s grand Szechenyi Baths), and then to another indoor baths complex the next afternoon (Gellert baths inside the Hotel Gellert).

Croatia

I arrived in Zagreb, Croatia. Wandered around the central area.

Zagreb to Split

to Krka National Park, where I swam up to cascading waterfalls. Amazing experience.

Split to Bol (island)

Went to the beach after checking into a guesthouse.

Slovenia

Arrived in Ljubliana in the wee hours of the morning.

Salzburg, Austria

Stayed in a nice hotel, central to a street party.

Munich, Germany

The return flight was from Munich, so I had the morning and afternoon to tour central Munich.

Vancouver.
