Travel Photography Scholarship 2014 - Vianney LE CAER

My Scholarship entry - After Sinjar

Iraq | Wednesday, November 5, 2014 | 5 photos

“After Sinjar” aims at documenting the plight of Yazidi families forced out of their homes by ISIS.
After fleeing the mountains they had sought refuge on, they were forced to settle in urban areas around Dohuk, Iraq, leaving in unfinished buildings and under motorway bridges.
Those pictures were taken in August 2014 around Dohuk, Iraq.

I have started photography at the beginning of this year when I joined the MA Photojournalism course taught the London College of communication. Since then and whilst being a student, I have covered the Ukrainian Revolution (January 2014), the Turkey/Syria border (May 2014) and the ongoing conflict with ISIS in northern Iraq. My work has been featured in The Times, The Guardian, The Daily Mail, Le Monde, Paris-Match, National Geographic, Zeit...
I have also work with NGO Peace One day in Goma, DRC in September 2014 where I followed actor Jude Law and singer Akon for a charity concert organized there.
My background is in Political Science, a field in which I hold a master's degree. I have traveled in 53 countries so far and as part of my studies and personal endeavors, have lived in Vietnam, Turkey and Australia.
