My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

Worldwide | Sunday, October 17, 2010 | 5 photos

Since completing Masters of Architecture in 2008, I have been working in a Canberra based architecture firm. I have discovered that my passion rests with photography, a direction I plan to pursue in near future. However, my passion for travel has always been present. Travelling is a significant part of my life. The images I have submitted for this scholarship represent my connections with the places I have explored.

The Girl from Vietnam personifies the humanity behind the taunts of street sellers. I have found that while travelling one may become disassociated from the world; the traveller creates obnoxious principles with the right to disrespect others.

I was overwhelmed by the urban patterns of Mexico City, whole crowds moving through as one, streets appropriated for whatever use was required.

The shot of Melbourne Federation Square represents the stage a city becomes, and varied utilisation of space that changes with the time.

The photo of Belgrade is my childhood. I was born in Belgrade, and my family left in 1998 in search of a different life. In 2006 I spent time in the City after many years, and this is what I remembered the most, being a kid at the City Show.

The photos submitted for your consideration represent my memories of those places I felt most connected with. I hope that through these images, I can give you a glimpse of the place behind the lens.
