Poland: My Grandparents' Homeland

PUERTO RICO | Thursday, 20 June 2013 | Views [230]

8 am and sitting at the gate in the San Juan airport - first leg of my trip to Poland, my first trip to Poland and first trip to Europe in almost 3 years. My grandparents Wladislaw and Josefa Brunydiski (sp?!) aka Tony & Josephine Smith arrived in the US by boat over 100 years ago - and now I'm going back to their homeland by jet. What would they think if they were here? What would my mother think if she were here?

2 pm the next day, I left thoughts of my grandparents behind as I climbed into the car sent to bring me to my Krakow hotel. My driver, who had been waiting patiently with a sign in his hand, directed me to the black Mercedes waiting at the curb outside.
