I was trekking for Milam Glacier. Here I saw different life style. I was trekking with luxury same time a kid walking with simple shoes and bamboo stick. I asked - how you manage ? He said – it is our daily life.
Next I met a lady enjoying tobacco with family. She said – we all drinks and smokes together. This is our culture. i found their culture more developed & liberal. In next village ladies start dancing in their local songs and lady played song in mobile. They charged mobile through solar power though no mobile network there.
Here lady invited me for tea. Her house was stone made, short in height. I set on sheep skin met. I saw wooden drums there. They use it to store food grain. She said - I don’t like staying here because it’s cold and no facilities here. She used many English words which she learned from trekkers. I asked - what you don't like here. She said– it's too cold and no facilities here.
Headman told me scary stories like- when it night a huge black bird fly and snatches human eyes. Next he said - here an animal called Chiyanku comes and kill thousands sheep in second. He cut like knife.
One lady show me dried Brahm Kamal, a religious flower. She said - Nanda Devi is our goddess, who blesses us. Every year we perform worship and offer these flowers. Lady said – I don’t want to go but when in cold, life becomes impossible. All the time I miss my goddess, my mountains and everything.
Next day I went to Nanda Devi temple which was closed. I saw statues through window. One Shivlinga located in the verandah. Headman told - when villagers performs worship, they offer goat meat to goddess and blood to Shvlinga. After this he and other bade me goodbye and went off with mule, dog and sheeps.
Local guide show me the confluence of Gori River, comes from Milam Glacier and Gvankh river, comes from Tibit He told me no god present here, only soul stays. These souls can enter into human body and treat them like puppet.
Next day I trekked to Burfu village. I hired room there and tell him for food. He cooked magi. Magi and cigarettes are now popular here. He said –I am planning to make a small hotel here where I will provide basic facilities. I can feel that business runs in this society. At night he gave me sheep skin met and blanket.
Morning I saw a man was cutting meat. He said – I will dry this for winters. In my next destination I met with a man who told about local liquor called CHAKHATI. This was my last interaction with local people.
