SALACA – river in Latvia. It flows out of Lake Burtnieks and flows in the Baltic Sea; its length is 95 km. Because of lack of time we - group of friends, chose the stage between Mazsalaca and Staicele (approx. 40 km). It’s been told that the most beautiful landscapes are exactly around Mazsalaca area. During our trip we saw Angel’s cave – located on the left bank of the Salaca near the Dzelveskalns incline sandstone outcrop. Skanaiskalns – the reddish sandstone cliffs on the left bank of the Salaca, a shout from the opposite bank produces a significant echo. Also we saw Daugenu cliff on the on the right bank.
That was the first time when I rowed and experienced that kind of sports, it was learning in process. Must say that stage (Mazsalaca - Staicele) usually takes 2 days, we made it in about 10 hours – our personal record.
I am Viktorija Saharova, I live in Latvia. As I was really interested in photography I took classes. The problem is that there is no professional education in this area in Latvia, so I grab every opportunity to learn more about how to capture most important moments of my life. I’ve never been in Asia and in the trip to Bhutan I see great opportunity to learn more about culture of Asia and Bhutan herself and learn more about photography and its methods from the best. There is a belief that through photography is possible to capture one’s soul, I believe that I can capture the soul of Bhutan, at least I can try.
