My Scholarship entry - Seeing the world through other eyes

The Tibetan boy finally turned around and asked:"Not afraid any more?" His snow-white embonpoint horse looked loftily indifferent to the outside world, chewing the grass all the way along.
"No." I answered firmly, despite a dark brown yak standing right a few meters away in front of this narrow trail and skeletons of some unknown animals shining under my poor fleshless nag's hooves. I calmed down and looked around, several Tibetan tents lie peacefully on the grassland in the distance like colorful butterflys resting on a girl's new green dress, wisps of smokes rising slowly up to the sky, melting in to the clouds. I could even see flocks of goats running on another piece of grassland surrounded by steep mountains. Everything is perfect except the yak.
"Where are you from?" He popped out the question at the proper time. "Shanghai." "Oh, I know. The Oriental Pearl TV Tower." His grey eyes suddenly brightened."You've been there before?" I asked surprisingly. "No." " Then how do you know it? On TV?" "No, a tourist from Shanghai told me before, we don't have a TV in my house." He squeezed a smile on his swarthy face with rosy cheeks. "Oh..." I felt a little embarrassed and guilty."Your Chinese is fluent, who taught you? I don't see any signs of school here around." I tried to make a compensation." I learned from the tourists." "You're quite smart, aren't you? Well, where do you want to go the most?" "Lahsa, of course." He answered without any hesitation, as if it were the only place worth to go in the world. "Nice choice, I'd also like to see the Potala Palace if I have the chance.""It's nothing about choice. The choice has been made since I was born. I have to go there because it's our Holy Land."
We both sank into silence:A slight boy on his steed, eying the tracks in the earth thoughtfully- the silence was so dignified and charming that i didn't want to break it. " See you in Lahsa." I said it in my heart.
