Life and Death in the Zambezi Valley

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Zimbabwe | Tuesday, June 11, 2013 | 5 photos

I was privileged enough to be brought up in a magnificent wildlife area in Zimbabwe the Malilangwe Conservation Trust, probably one of the most heavily populated (in terms of wildlife) concessions in southern africa. Living there taught me all the about the bush and the ways in which to work with wild animals. I then toom a gap year after high school in which I guided canoeing safaris down the Zambezi River for Africa's foremost safari company, Wilderness Safaris. This again taught me great things about the outdoors and photography especially when it came to getting the right opportunity/shot on dangerous and elusive animals and making the shot count. I really enjoy the outdoors and photographing the outdoors. I believe that it is a great challenge to get an awesome shot of something that can kill you.

I think I should be chosen as I already am aware of the demands of a professional photographer as I have guided many of them on canoeing safaris, I believe that I have the potential to become an excellent photographer with some guidance and advice. I also believe that the opportunity will not be wasted on me as I will work extremely hard and smart to achieve what is asked of me.
