I am a 20 year old undergraduate student doing media studies at the University of Leicester in the UK. I am a focused, easy-going, easily approachable person who loves to get to know people from different parts of the world.
Why I think I should be chosen is because I enjoy observing people, and most of my pictures are based on the emotions of people. In my mind, what makes a 'place' are its inhabitants, its people and in every land, there are people who have a cultural and social connection with the land. This combination of people, land and culture, makes every place on the planet unique.
I try and capture these emotions, that dig into to the cultural and social contexts people live in. So in effect, I try and capture a unique and spontaneous moment in time that makes an emotional connection with the viewer and the subject, be it the land or the people.
What I strive to achieve with this scholarship is to gain invaluable knowledge, to understand the world more and try to do my best to capture such unique moments, to gain a deeper understanding into how people live and work, further my photographic techniques and my understanding of people of diverse cultures.
