My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

The photographies have been taken in the borderland between China and Tibet. No natural resources to exploit and no tourism in this forbidding place leaves the people to keep their original way of life. Everything runs on a slow pace. The altitude slows you down. Breathing while climbing up the hilly village paths surrounded by the high Himalayan peaks is hard work. But every step is rewarding.
Looking around you will see dry frozen land even if the sun is burning hot. A magical absence of green enriched with an abundance of every shade of brown that you can imagine. A place that represents loneliness and simplicity, but also harmony in this adverse circumstances. A place that is so contrary to the Western civilization. A place that you can learn from like from the Bhutan.
Bhutans matchless methods in dealing with the rise of capitalism and ecological problems in times of globalization are exemplary. I admire the totally different approach of the Bhutanese society regarding values in life. Happiness and with it a healthy nature is more important than money.
I think winning the scholarship would give me the chance to help you bringing this fantastic country to speak due to the art of photography to the world. I would love to take the challenge while developing my own skills under experience guidance.
At the moment I am living in Berlin working for a gallery after being on the road the last years. During this time I was living and working in Bangkok, Budapest, Bogotá and on a sailing boat in the Caribbean. I enjoy the challenges which come along while adapting to new cultures. I was co-managing a five star hotel in Hungary and working for film and television in Germany and Asia. I am 25 years old and I would love to accompany you and National Geographic to Bhutan!
