I discovered photography with a camera-phone at 14. On my 18th I was gifted a ‘real’ camera and it hasn't been out of my grip since. Also raised with a love of adventure, I've spent many happy hours in the miraculous mountains of our Scottish home. Spreading my wings for the first time, I worked on a cattle-station in Oz, discovering a completely different way of life. My camera was a way of capturing a whole memory in a single instant, a way of taking the place and experience with me, without taking anything away from it. In a world where we always seem to take and rarely reflect, photography has an important place. I can think of nothing more thrilling than being a part of that: discovering but preserving the world and all it offers to those with open eyes. Yet I have so much to learn; about photography, the world and myself. I try to never miss a chance to learn. Taking photos has taught me so much already; not only to look but to see. This scholarship would give me an opportunity to start learning the craft for real, to hone my technique which is based only on instinct. Adventure is an addiction, as is photography. Combining the two is something I have no hope of resisting.
