Scotland. A land that is to date as wild, fierce and free as it was in the days of yore. A place steeped in history and fairy stories of old... where proud clansmen (and women!) still wear their colours proudly on their chests. A land where the stone castles and sweeping Highland scenery make it hard to put your camera down for more than a few minutes as you drive along the serpentine roads. Ahh Scotland! An 8 day adventure through the old country left me yearning for so much more- an extension on my trip to begin with!
Life in Scotland is an intense and heady thing to say in the least. The people are spirited and fiercely independent; well taught in their histories and pasts and each feel a love for their country such as I have never seen before on my travels. To date the saga of their fight for independence form the British dominion tints their opinions and way of life. Up in the Highlands, a tapestry of isolation and sheep, along with land and loch completes the wondrous landscapes that made my lens sing! Add to that the sound of a distant bagpipe and fiddle and inspiration ran amok!
I am a traveller and wanderer and maybe a photographer. My Ipod and camera and a map are all I need as I wade into a new place, eager to absorb all that it offers. I am just finishing my masters in science journalism from City University, London. I enjoy music, food, stargazing, science and my camera- who is called Diane and has been with me for the past 5 years now. I do hope you get to meet her soon, she is lovely. Hope we both see you soon!
