Made in Taiwan Both Trent and Matthew love apple pie. Love it. Which isn't the inspiration behind their subject matter for this film. But it does make it easier when ordering dessert.

Trent Foster:Filmmaker

Hard on the trail of Trent, I approached the Yurt. The herdsmen and his wife nodded knowingly and pointed west. Three days ago he had appeared out of the dusk, my interpreter translated. Tall and majestic.... like a Michelangelo come to life, the herdsmen whispered with a solemn nod. Steely eyes, broad shoulders, a face hardened by the elements. He had supped with them that night and was gone by first light. More myth than man, locals on every continent have a legend about Trent. To some he is a son of a god in search of the perfect story to take back to heaven. To others he is the bringer of trinkets and harvest rains. To the Borgen twins in Oslo he was the drunk guy that hit on them at New Years 2010. With a Canon 5D in one hand and a Bolex 16mm in the other, Trent wanders the earth in search of the perfect focus pulled/tilt shifted/Spielburg-esque/panoramic composition. Currently an amateur film maker with two years experience, he is at the point where he has need of a mentor to refine skills he already has, and to teach him ones that he can't learn on his own. His life’s dream? To be Batman. His other dream? To capture epic shit on film.

Matthew Keegan: Presenter

I caught up with Matthew for a quick interview two weeks ago at the Moulan Rouge.

Hi Matthew, thanks for meeting me”.

Hey mate. No probs. Can you pass me that wig?”

Ah, yeah sure. So what's been happening since Taiwan?”

Oh man, everything. Did you know the world is ending this year? Bam. Gone. Can you pass me those stilettos?”

Umm...yeah I think I saw a movie about it... so anyway, what brings you to Paris, and more importantly the Moulin Rouge?”

You've got to Google that shit man. Mayans knew all about it....they knew.... Where'd you say we were?”

Ahh...Paris? As in the capital of France.”

.....this isn't the 'Fans of Marilyn Monroe' convention? In Porto Rico?”

No...although that does explain your outfit. Nice heels by the way.”

Thanks they're Manolo Blahniks. So whose dressing room are we in?”

The name on the door says 'Madam Belle'.”

.....we should probably go. Seems a waste to get all dressed up for nothing though.....want to buy me dinner?”

No.”

Can I borrow ten bucks?”

Absolutely not.”

Matthew is the classic extroverted introvert. Happy to sit quietly in a car on a ten day road trip, or throw a feathered boa around his neck and do the fox trot at Aunt Wilma's 91st birthday bash. His life highlights to date include winning the “Best Ass in Portugal” trophy three years running, and training his cat to sit on command (try it....it isn't easy). Also along the way he managed to focus enough to pick up two undergrad degrees. His job descriptions have been many and varied, but the one thing they all have in common is that he is always communicating with people. Comfortable with people of all ages and backgrounds he loves the camera. And the camera loves him.

Winning this Scholarship would be a huge step in meeting Trent and Matthew's shared goal to make a sustainable living out of travel film making. They both have a tremendous passion for learning about, and interacting with, the lives of others around the globe. They are both at the stage where professional mentorship would open the door to the next level in new skills and technique development while also refining existing ones. In short winning this scholarship would mean everything to them.
