    We had promised Hamish a birthday in a castle, but our travel dates were mucked about a bit and we eneded up in a B and B in Coniston on the edge of Coniston Water, in the Lake District.

    Hi Bron, and everyone
    Happy Birthday to Hamish!
    I thought of you lot this morning and realised another birthday was had.
    I have always thought Coniston Water would be lovely- I think it was "Plague Dogs" or some other book I read when young where the action took place.
    Cold and foggy here right now- 5 degrees this morning, brrr!
    Really enjoying your travel blog. It's a lovely distraction form a big essay right now!
